Seeds of Fiction was first seen, fittingly enough, at the annual international Graham Greene Literary Festival. This is held in Berkhamsted, Greene's birthplace and the picture here shows patrons gathering at the Town Hall for one of the lectures. Graham Greene's birthday is tomorrow, 2nd October. .

Joseph Roth has new fan in Neil Tennant. . . ?
We were delighted to see that Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys has revealed a recent reading of Joseph Roth's The Hundred Days – see here. One of the Peter Owen crew used to work for Helter Skelter when it had a bookshop in Soho and can attest to Mr Tennant's fine taste in music books – it's pleasing to think he might be a Roth fan too. . . !
